“A DMS is only as good as the applications with which it integrates’’
Microsoft introduced Matter Center at ILTACON 2014 to enable SharePoint as a document management system. While some viewed it as a threat to existing DMS vendors, Microsoft’s decision to release Matter Center as open source in late 2015 indicated a halt in internal development. Despite this, discussions at ILTACON 2021 revealed that traditional DMS systems, including SharePoint, remain relevant in law firms and corporate legal departments today.
